Passive RFID sensor tags are attracting more and more attention due to energy harvesting, RFID communication and sensor funtionality. Among other things, the tags are suitable for many applications in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Internet of Things (IoT). The antenna plays a crucial role in such systems as it is essential for wireless power transmission and communication. However, due to process variations in manufacturing, the antenna's impedance varies over a wide range, limiting the tag's available power. The topic of this thesis is the development of an adaptive impedance matching circuit in a commercial 0.18µm technology. The focus of this thesis is on achieving high energy efficiency through low power consumption.
